Our Travel blog
Left home at midday after a hectic morning, including a trip to the storage unit with Mavis, and then a tortuous drive to Cambridge, including two traffic jams, to introduce Leo and Mojo to their new home, which seems to have gone very well.
The drive to Caterbury was even worse. With the M2 shut it took us 4 hours longer than it should - and may we state for the record that 2 hours to travel 1 mile through Medway at night is even more dull than it sounds. Just to top it all off, the engine management light came on in Mavis but luckily it didn't require immediate attention. Finally arrived at 10:30 where the site owner restored our faith in humanity by greeting us with a flask of hot chocolate. beyond the call of duty but most welcome, especially when we enlivened it with a tot or two of Jack Daniels.

Minor panic today when the padlock to the storage unit failed and it had to be cut open with an impressive set of bolt cutters. Once a replacement lock was found we've had a very productive day sorting and starting to get Mavis sorted. Nearly there...
Tomorrow the large items of furniture and as many boxes as possible will be squeezed into our storage space. After a couple of days of frantic packing we're about as ready as we will be, and once its all moved out there will be space to organise what remains. We do seem to have a frightening amount to load into Mavis.
Meanwhile - Alison is sorting stationary and having altogether too much fun arranging paper into size, hue and weight, checking pens still work, grading paper-clips and getting oddly sentimental over erasures.. We are off to collect Mavis from her storage today. Ready for final kitting out. Meanwhile here's photo evidence of travelling being in our blood - Rays Uncle Norman's conversion. |
